If you enjoy a challenge on the fairways in the warm sunshine, why not work this into your next getaway? Golf holidays to Spain can be the perfect way of indulging your passion for the sport while also soaking up some rays in picturesque settings.

Spain is home to many world-class courses and, as such, it can be difficult to figure out exactly where you'd like to go for your break. Luckily, you'll find excellent greens dotted all over the country, so whether you want to book holiday rentals accommodation in Andalucia or along the Costa Brava, you'll find some suitable courses nearby.

There are more than 300 courses to choose from, but if you're heading to Malaga you're sure to want to call in at Las Brisas. The club here was one of the first in Europe to use bent grass and you'll find the 18-hole course challenging and exciting with its many water hazards, bunkers and sections of raised grass.

Andalucia is renowned as Spain's best region for golf, and there are certainly plenty of venues to choose from if you decide to play the sport here. One of the most famous is Valderrama Golf Club located on the Costa del Sol.

Here, you can play 18 holes of golf on a course designed in the 1970s and renowned as one of the best locations for the pastime in the whole of Spain. Having hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup, the course is sure to test your skills.

Although the greens are commonly used by private members, the par 71 course is open to visitors at set times most days.

Another well-known spot for golfing in the region is the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, which was founded in 1964. The large greens and long tees are ideal for a leisurely game of 18 holes set in a beautiful location that is renowned for its natural beauty.

Meanwhile, there's also a nine-hole par three course alongside the main course, allowing keen sportsmen to hone their abilities.

If you're planning to head to the Costa Calida, be sure to spend some time at La Manga Club, where you'll find three 18-hole championship courses. The courses have pars of 71, 72 and 73 respectively, while there's also a par 47 pitch and putt course for short game enthusiasts.

The club is a prominent golfing hotspot in the region, having hosted a wealth of events in its 40-year history, including the Spanish PGA and five Spanish Opens.

Cultural Valenica is another great location for a warm Spanish holiday, and if you choose it as your destination you won't be far from the golfing action, as you can make your way to El Saler. The course here is regarded as being one of continental Europe's best laid out and is also situated in a nature reserve on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea, so you'll only be a stone's throw away from the beach.

Even experienced golfers are sure to relish the course's challenging conditions, which include elevated greens and varied terrain.

If you're planning a stay on the Costa Brava, meanwhile, you won't want to miss a trip to the PGA Cataluyna Resort, which is situated in Caldes de Malavella, Catalonia. There are two 18-holes courses here, the most popular of which is the Stadium. This interesting green is a great play for all skill levels, as each hole can be approached from five different tees.

These are just some of Spain's top golf courses, you're sure to find plenty more during your getaway.
