Tuesday, 7 December 2010 2:25 PM

For a sunny getaway in 2011, British Airways has made its recommendations and the top pick for next year is the North African destination of Marrakech, with other hotspots in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean also featuring in the list.

The Moroccan city of Marrakech has long been a tourist favourite, and sun-worshipping travellers can hone their bartering skills in the legendary markets before soaking up some rays on the beach.

Other top beach destinations picked out by BA include the Caribbean islands of St Kitts & Nevis, Puerto Rico and St Lucia, or head to the Indian Ocean for a luxury stay in the Maldives or Mauritius.

Willie Walsh, British Airways’ CEO, said: “We’ve seen destinations in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean becoming even more popular with leisure travellers looking for sun and relaxation.”
