Things to do in Marbella

Anyone looking to book a holiday in Marbella will not be disappointed, with the coastal resort providing a fun-filled range of activities for those who want to enjoy sun, sea and surf.

One of the key advantages Marbella has over other similar towns in the region is that it combines all of the best elements of a dream vacation into one location.

This means that you have a wealth of choice at your fingertips, whether you want to spend the day at the beach, learn about Spanish cultural heritage or explore the local vicinity for sightseeing opportunities and souvenirs.

Many holidaymakers who travel to Marbella are looking to soak up the sun by the beach and there are plenty of excellent spots for topping up your tan in the area.

For example, the beach at Puerto Banus is one of the best in Andalucia, offering high-quality facilities including permanent lifeguards that allow you peace of mind when swimming.

Situated to the south-west, this sandy stretch of land is not far from a number of fine eateries and shops, meaning you can wander along the marina after you've spent the day by the sea. There is also plenty of hotel accommodation nearby.

One example is the Princesa Playa Marbella Hotel, which could be a good option if you want to stay close to the sand.

There are a number of other top beaches in the vicinity, such as at El Ancon and Los Monteros, with the latter being a favourite with Spanish locals.

Whichever beach you end up choosing, you should have a wide selection of water sports activities available, meaning you can try your hand at jetskiing or wind surfing should you be feeling particularly adventurous.

If you are hoping to expand your cultural horizons, you can try the Spanish Contemporary Engraving Museum, which is in the old Hospital Bazan in Marbella.

The institution showcases a variety of fascinating exhibits, including aquatints, lithographs, xylographs and etchings, produced by some of the country's most well-known artists.

Works by Picasso, Tapies and Miro are just a few of the pieces available for viewing, with visitors also given presentations on the different techniques used to create such masterpieces.

Looking to unwind? Marbella has one the best nightlife cultures in the region, with plenty of clubs and bars at which to spend your evenings.

Whether you are hoping for live music, traditional Spanish flamenco rhythms or a swanky upmarket experience, there should be a venue to cater for your tastes.

Some of the more popular establishments include Olivia Valere - a multibar nightclub - and Stones Music Bar, which is great for karaoke fans.
